August Morning, 1990

 One August Morning in 1990, my beautiful cat passed away and left me bereft in my garden where she and I used to be together. I started a series of watercolor like paintings in acrylic on paper to console myself. I could feel her absence and presence through them. They became a delicate connection to nature. I tried to repeat the spirit of them in another series, "September Morning" in 1995 and also in the "Two Sisters" series of 1994. Here are a few of the pieces. Joyce Lieberman

Archiving Beautiful Florals

 I have many floral paintings from over the years. 

These first three are 15 x 22" works on paper.

Springtime, especially April has me all a flutter.

Now I am trying to use more variables  

and whip my designs together  with some reference to reality but fictional. 

The wind is whipping the orange blossoms to fall like rain. 

Earlier today I watched the bugs swarm in  an almost atomic configuration.

And the birds flutter in some very irregular patterns swooping in to eat and nibble,
 and 

the play of light and shadows flicker.

I use peach leaves, geranium leaves and a bloom or two, avocado buds, callalillies and their leaves and a touch of red salvia with the bluebirds.

These are a taller format, what ya think?

"Trees" collection to be shown at Lido Gallery in Birmingham, Michigan

Lido Gallery will be having their Grand Opening in their new space in Birmingham, Michigan on October 8th.
My collection of six canvases demonstrating my love of "Trees" will be part of the opening exhibititon. I grew up not far from there and loving the rush of falling autumn leaves was one of my greatest pleasures. Michigan is a verdant place full of promise in the fall.
A triptych of 4x2' canvases called "By the Lake" will be featured.
Other pieces include "Canopy" 4.5x4', Graceful Arbor", 4x3' and "Fancy Trees" 4x2'.
